So for years I've been calling myself a Basshead, considering I'm a huge fan of Lorin "Bassnectar" from before he got huge, via Burning Man and related events.

(I made this as one half of my desktop wallpaper for years with the other similar half of my dual monitors with "Basshead". For the last few years it's been The Dark Side Of The Money on all 6 monitors.)

Meanwhile just looking up based the first Dictionary.com definition states:

" Based comes from the slang basehead, a term from the 1980s to describe people addicted to freebasing cocaine, a method which makes the drug smokable... "

LOL. I've never done crack but coke is fine though not as nice as ketamine IMO, and together make for an interesting "vanilla" high with the best of both while cancelling each other out in a way - without the dangers of speedballing (I've never done opiates either).

The second definition from Urban Dictionary makes more sense:

" The quality of having an opinion without regard for what other people think, often a controversial opinion but not always. Upon expressing such an opinion it is customary for others to acknowledge the person as being based. "

Thus far I've only seen "based" refer to politically controversial or political truth from their view. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've often considered starting a sub but didn't know a good term for it:

These titles all seem meh or awkward or trying too hard. The opposite of debased, I'm hoping Based is the place I've been waiting for.
