I'm still over there somewhat, just not as much as I used to be. I'm in agreement with the downvoting bs, it's horizontal censorship. Reddit does things like shadow ban you when your account gets really low karma, so it's a little weird seeing the refugees from reddit wanting a downvote button so badly complain about censorship. The site designers added those extra invisible consequences anyway.

And on that note, you really do have to be a special kind of crazy to call someone else a "snowflake" when they post something you disagree with. Talk about sensitive, sheesh.

It's tough to say how the discourse went.

Everybody's different.

My highschool friends and I were merciless savages to each other, often flipping the bird as a greeting, etc. We rarely took it personally, even though we occasionally could have (legit humiliation of one another).

We fucked each other on numerous occasions and found it hilarious. For example, we'd often stack friends lockers with porno mags when they had girlfriends, etc.

Some folks are a bit more coarse with others, but don't actually intend actual offense. And I can relate, but have reigned it in.

It's difficult to imagine feeling insulted by being called a snowflake.

Having said that, I've seen plenty of furious SJW types who struggle to tolerate any perceived slight. I can't say that I really understand where they're coming from, though...

I don't think my comment was uncalled for, I haven't said it before but this dude was delusional. He said that there are a lot of bad people on reddit and he shouldn't be supposed to read their comments. He goes forward and asks reddit if they could highlight comments posted by 'assholes' so he can avoid reading them, even comments that were not downvoted to hell. To that I replied "You really want your safe space don't you little snowflake?"

It is weird that real science and physics isn't 'allowed'. Magnetohydrodynamics is mainstream physics, so why is it hated in so much media?

Kinda makes me put my conspiracy hat on to try and figure out what is special about MHD that makes people want to hide it.

Maybe something to do with climate science, since it is the basis for storm amplification by geomagentic storms.

Or maybe propulsion systems, if you've helix wound a torus with helix wound wire to create a 'virtual' photon with variable spin. (the next step for Nasa's helix drive, as the torus provides the relativistic difference in masses)

MHD is made by Alphen, who got a Nobel prize for it. And then declared that astronomers were misusing his formulas and not using it right.

Let me explain it quickly:

Electric charged particles usually follow an electrical field. But when shot into a magnetic field, they follow a spiral path along a magnetic field direction and produce synchrotron radiation.
The latter idea is only looked at in astronomy. MHD starts with the special case that there is no electrical field, and only follows the magnetic field direction. Hey, what could go wrong?

The astronomers use it to explain solar plasma ropes and solar flares.

We find no synchrotron radiation in most cases (I have not seen it). We can not repeat the models in laboratories and computer models are a bit weird.
But astronomers add more to the idea, and claim that magnetic field lines can collide with each other. Which according to them can produce a lot of energy.
The latter is not even compatible with basic physics.

So I started investigating it a bit more. Started asking questions... got banned.

My result:

I first noticed that the plasma-ropes are usually containing moving plasma, as if an electrical current is moving through them. And the ropes go from one sunspot to the other. So logically one sunspot would have a positive and the other a negative electrical charge.

The sunspots show a very strong Zeeman effect, which is usually caused by a very strong magnetic field. And a very strong electrical field of that size (100x earth) needs a very strong electrical current. But we do not see such currents. Unless we see the solar ropes as such currents.

But there is also an alternative: the stark effect. The stark effect indicates a very strong electrical field. But usually they can not exist in plasma... except when we have double-layers in plasma or on some kind of surface. We see that in the laboratory. Either one can be true.

So this means that the solar ropes become very easy. They are just electrical currents, like in a plasma ball. And they behave very similar. No we can investigate the other phenomena.

What happens when two electrical currents connect? An electrical short-cut. And this may be an energetic event that can start flares.

A very strong electrical current can be unstable, and may even shoot away sparks like in a rail gun.

Zeeman effect is slightly different from Stark effect. The Stark effect shows slightly different patterns. And looking at some zeeman/ magnetic field pictures of the sun, it seems that the stark effect give a better image. Or maybe there is a combination of both.

Now looking back into the astronomers:
They claim that no electrical field can exist and that therefore there is no stark effect. Some astronomers even claim that, because there is no electrical field, there are no electrical currents. And nothing is wrong with MHD, and nothing is wrong with magnetic field lines colliding. But with instruments in space and in laboratories we do measure electrical fields and currents.

For me astronomy on the sun looks like bad science.

Maybe when scientists talk science fiction, it is a sign that we are looking at bad science.

    My 7 year old account was banned because I criticized a powermod removing shit from the front page. I decided to make a new account just to browse/make memes but all the meme subreddits are so bad now that I barely use it. I basically never get news from reddit anymore since the comment sections are clearly curated and astroturfed.

    I didn't get banned, but I noticed that the quality of conversation slowly went downhill until it was all but useless, and that somewhat controversial (but not really that controversial) news topics just got censored out of existence. I closed my old account, but I keep one that I use for read-only, because reddit is still a decent resource for things like SBC technologies and whatnot.

    I had participated in some topics over the years that were hot buttons for tards, and call me paranoid but I was also seeing some weird stuff on that account and it's associated Imgur account. Wiped them both. Just comments along the lines of "how'd you know that?"

    I think it's the opposite. The public is becoming increasingly aware of the facts (despite massive propaganda efforts) and TPTB are desperate to censor the public. This is the reason for the recent mass censorship.

    Only been on reddit for 2 weeks. I make 2 or 3 comments per day, got 2 silver awards and one Platinum award, invited to the Platinum users club for making funny remarks. At the same time I got minus -100 downvotes for one comment on politics, put on the ten minute egg timer thing, and shadowbanned with no reason given (my posts simply do not show up).

    Reddit seems to be set up to manage public opinion into some sort of bizarre herd consensus. I've never before seen a public message board that attempts this. Typically contrary opinions are subject for debate, not censorship.

    What's the point in having a "discussion" forum where everybody agrees with each other?

      I got instantly banned for calling out someone that was obviously on steroids, that claimed to be a natural weightlifter. I don't have a problem with steroids. I have a problem with people lying about their use, that are trying to be some kind of role model. I could also tell that I was shadow banned for something else, for what, I do not know.

      i've seen Galen Winsor speech, and I'm not sure what to think.

      On one hand... I'm told that exposure to refined radioactive material leads to radiation poisoning and imminent death...

      On the other hand... Someone had to manually precisely machine (with a grinder no less) that condensed radioactive material into the warheads and they were exposed to the material, and dust derbris from the grinding. They should have died instantly, but they lived regular lives.

      It's probably another hoax; like all the rest... ;-)
