For those of you who are interested in the religious conspiracies, I think knowing about the themes of the mythologies in the old testament is a must know.

There are several similarities between the epic of Gilgamesh and the old testament, makes you wonder how much of it is just fiction.

The ancestors of the Jews who wrote the OT spent a time in Mesopotamia, and learned the story there.

The relationship is because they came from the same root story.

I spent a fair bit of time researching the Neolithic population movements in the middle East, and how the languages and dieties share a common origin.
