One side thinks we are going to all die unless we bankrupt rich nations and give to the BRICKS part of the world and fund bad solar panel companies. They then cherry picks warm weather records while the other side since at least 2007 IE:Robert Felix,GSM,and a bunch of others all have been going on this ice age rant when the real truth lies somewhere in the middle? The other side cherry picks some weird interior location and cries how unusually cold it is or a brief but sharp cold front they think it's the OMG Polar Vortex (which by the way is a very misused terminology and misunderstood) Just wasn't sure if any of you knew that or not. Wink Wink:
YES we are in A global warming NO it's not exclusively man's fault but our climate is different locally then it was 10 years ago and no sign of a turn around. Water is the new hot commodity and historically speaking the peak of such warmths isn't the 100 year mark but more like the 200 year mark.
The 1,000AD peak was actually 1100 then a slow trend down but more up then down till about 1300 to 1400 then more down then up with a large scale -PNA -NAO cycle that nearly shut off the gulf stream and made the Pacific colder. I guess you could say a semi permanent La Nina on steroids. 🤯
One such instance for Californai is less and less 'Tule' Fog where schools around Bakersfield/Fresno used to have several 'fog' days per year up till the 2014 climate shift now they hardly get any maybe 2 if lucky and many 2 hour late starts where schools open but busses are 2 hours late or downright cancelled with automatic excusing for those kids who don't show up.
Now the Tule fog is becoming like legend.
Here in the PNW we have a lot more rain on snow in the mountains and by the time snow levels drop there is hardly any moisture left from the few storms we do get now making it harder to predict for skiers. The warmer temps also makes it harder to operate snow cannons at night leading to more closures and less groomed trails.
Only the high elevation ski resorts have anything close to normal ops where as previously medium elevation ski resorts could operate most winters unless it was an El Nino drought which was more the exception then the rule but good years would make up for it.
1976/77 used to be the outlier in terms of crappy snowpack but this decade has made a run for the money/.
TL/DR: Both sides of the climate debate cherry pick data that fits their narrative spin with the pro ice age theorists combing the slightest cold temp anomalies in someone's backyard: which both sides shut down all forms of debate about it. The ice age people tend to also live in cold areas so their followers often brag a bout XX amount of unusual feet of snow making one think they live in an igloo or with polar bears. Sheesh! This feels like part of the cult religious cancer or something.
