Early life and education

Yglesias's father Rafael Yglesias is a screenwriter and novelist and he has a brother named Nicolas. His paternal grandparents were novelists Jose Yglesias and Helen Yglesias (née Bassine). His paternal grandfather was of Spanish-Cuban background, and his three other grandparents were of Eastern European Jewish descent.

Apparently Matt Yglesias was previously a victim of the knockout game, which he later wrote was totally not the knockout game because he wasnt actually knocked out, just randomly punched to the ground and then kicked repeatedly by some black yoofs.

Ironically one look at him and you can tell he would be a constant target if he ever had to live around large numbers of poor blacks, as he already had demonstrated to him.
