https://www.unz.com/akarlin/dugin-putins-39th-brain/
This has been the most retarded conspiracy theory about the right. The alt right is this duginist psyop. Dugin is this satanic, rasputin holding Putin's strings and he's planning the destruction of the west.
The origin of this theory is Glenn Beck, who came up with this BS disinformation campaign as part of the neocon agenda to further gin up conflict with Russia and justify more defense spending.
The theory is that Dugin is controlling Putin and Russia under his control is promoting anti-white black hatred in the west in order to destroy America and so and so.
This Dugin narrative has also been happily picked up by the Western press because of the convenience. Russia had been a scapegoat before 2014 in order to scaremonger for defense budgets and US presence in Europe. After the Ukraine war, and the 2016 election, it went into overdrive.
The Western press went ahead with it because it fit the narrative perfectly. Dugin fit the mold of this bond villain, plotting against the west and hoping to incite racial civil war in the US in the same vein as Trotsky and plotting to take over the world.
Unfortunately, a lot of otherwise intelligent and sound right wingers, like BAP and Thuletide(SP fan account on twitter) have gulped it up. It fits their narrative as well since Dugin is antiwhite and wants Russia to essentially become greater Turkistan and take over Europe. Plus he larps as a satanist and occultist.
Dugin's vision also aligns with the visions of David Ben Gurion in 1948, that the USSR would take over Eurasia and act as Jewry's world enforcer. It all went sideways in the 50s however with Stalin's purges and the rise of Krushchev. The Soviets even fought a physical war against Israel in the 60s that no one talks about.

The USSR almost singlehandedly delayed the greater Israel project by decades. Without it, its possible that Israel would've conquered most of the Levant long ago.
So I get why right wingers have these paranoid conspiracy theories about him. Plus since he's a critique of liberalism, many of the more philosophically oriented in the alt right have discussions and debates with him.
But here's the thing, drawing lines between two pictures on a white board doesn't prove anything.
The reality about Dugin is incredibly banal. He's a nobody in Russia.
http://regcomment.ru/ratings/reyting-rossiyskikh-politologov-po-upominaemosti-v-smi-v-2016-godu/
He's merely the 39th most important intellectual in Russia. Nowhere near the spotlight.
Are his views widespread or even well known in Russia?
https://www.unz.com/akarlin/state-of-the-altsphere-2018/?highlight=Websites
No. His website gets very little to no view compared to the openly pro hitler and anti-Semitic Russia insider.
http://www.4pt.su/en
Dugin's site above has so few views that it doesn't even list on similarweb, while openly pro-Nazi antisemitic RI has 161k views, down from a high of 300k views and even more prior before online shoah.
But maybe he's a secret advisor who walks only the halls of power? Well, if that was the case then such a Rasputin like figure would no doubt hold positions of importance. Perhaps a Presidential advisor with easy access to the Kremlin. Maybe a member of the state council. Maybe a high ranking official in intelligence, military, administration, no?
or perhaps, a Rasputin like string puller would be powerful in extra-governmental spheres. Perhaps a chairman or key mover in prominent think tanks, NGOs and institutes? Maybe a powerful oligarch?
Fortunately, Dugin is none of those things. The only profession he's had, is a professor of sociology in Moscow state university. He was even sacked from his post as Deputy head in 2014 and is now just a professor.
The almighty string puller behind Putin, gets fired from a post in the sociology department!
Contrast him to real life string pullers who act as power behind the throne in the West. David Rockefeller was head of Chase bank and headed countless prominent NGOs and think tanks across the world. The CIA openly worked with him and the Rockefeller foundation under him was one and the same with the CIA.
He was also a member of the CFR, the Trilateral commission and holds the record for the most invitations to Bilderberg.
If you're looking for intellectuals who've been elevated to top technocratic positions and serve as a bellweather for elite motives, look at Claus Schwab and Brezinski. Schwab was a chemistry professor and made into the executive of the World economic forum where global plutocrats meet.
Brezinski was also a common professor who was uplifted by David Rockefeller. He chaired the trilateral commission and was a counsellor to LBJ and the national security advisor to Carter.
If Dugin was truly this mastermind and brain behind Putin, then his career profile would like something like these men. He, a common professor would've been uplifted to head some think tank or would have some official high ranking position in the Kremlin.
In all, he is a total nobody in Russia who is known more widely in the west due to his cartoonish views on geopolitics.
