If there's one question in this universe that I want answered it's if we're alone or not. I've been thinking about it ever since I was a kid. I am skeptical about UFOs being aliens though. We need the scientific community to finally take this subject seriously.

Of course we're not alone, unless by alone you mean any civilization advanced enough to do interstellar travel will have blown itself to bits first and so we will never meet them.

It's perfectly possible that Earth is the only place with actual life on it.

No. They become ultra Liberal first due to excess comfort and undergo dysgenic collapse. Even if they recover, they are unable to reindustrialize owing to a lack of cheap fossil fuels and rare earth metals which had been exploited to death during their first industrial revolution.

They are thus trapped in a state of society corresponding to 18th century Europe. But perhaps with more improved weaponry

Absolutely. It's also just a fascinating issue which too many serious people instantly associate with paranormal abduction tales and other oddities when the most interesting part by far is the type of phenomenon that's been noted by trained pilots and other people for decades. Time and time again -- and we've got real footage as well -- there are the same descriptions of these craft which defy all known abilities when it comes to our aeronautics. Vehicles that apparently just hover, nearly still but suddenly take off to the point where you can't see them. Acceleration speeds that seem to be physically impossible but also would probably flat out kill someone in the craft if it was operated by a human.

The Nimitz encounter remains the most mind-blowing example. These things came from above 28,000 feet. One of them descended to 50 feet above sea level and it did so in only 0.78 second, which is absolutely insane. What's even more insane is that these things can hover in our atmosphere for days on end. We don't have anything that can do that without refueling several times.

At that speed it should leave a trail of plasma in its wake. Its either nonsense or a radar reading error

Or it's using a propulsion system we don't know anything about. And it's not an error. It was detected by more than one radar.

Obama confirmed the videos are real and he was just as perplexed as the pilots are.

Has anyone seen Stargate?

It is a movie about humans being spread out in different nations, where they are slaves to a parasitic race called the goaulds, who pretend to be Gods to the humans. It is very interesting

If this shit is real then why is only the us seeing it? Why not Russia, China Japan or India?

Not true. UFO's have been reported all over the world. Even in ancient times like Egypt or the Roman Empire.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_reported_UFO_sightings

As for why do we always hear about the ones from the U.S? I imagine there are many theories. Assuming Aliens are real, perhaps they're interested in the country that is technologically closest to them? Within the last 100 years, it was the USA that developed atom bombs, stealth bombers, the internet and rockets that could travel to the farthest depths of space. Which is completely unparalleled for any human civilization.

But that's MY theory. For all we know, UFO's are just intergalactic pranksters and they just like messing with us Earthlings.

The most likely explanation here is simply that Russia and China have thoroughly outpaced the US in aeronautics.

Russia can't even maintain their old Soviet spacecraft, yet they somehow have more modern tech today?

As for China, they might take Space more seriously, but they cut a lot of corners to do it. Like the other day when they lost control of their rocket and it crashed into the sea.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (11 children)

Mostly because Russia has focused on high tech weaponry more than space exploration. They have evil-intent nations creeping towards their borders and need deterrents more than putting machines on Mars.

    [–]radicalcentristNational Centrism[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Can you explain what makes Russian tech more advanced than anyone else?

Once again, their best hay days was during their Soviet period, and even then, their tech wasn't actually the best. They just had the right combination of being ultra reliable and being able to mass produce them in numbers. Like the AK-47.

But the idea that they possess weapons that can literally defy the laws of physics, when much of their own country's infrastructure is in a state of decay is a bit out there.

Hypersonic weapons powered by tiny nuclear reactors, which grants them range and speed far beyond what is possible otherwise.

India appears to have the same/similar technology.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3M22_Zircon#Export

And even then, a missile that only goes from point A to B is no where near the level of what was shown in the UFO video. This object was able to go from Space to Underwater in 0.78 seconds and it was clearly hovering in midair as well with no need to refuel.

You would be better off showing me a Russian Helicopter or Drone that can approach this level of tech.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Yes, India has a lot of arms deals with Russia.

But this is not the point. You think in hot warfare HELICOPTERS or other aircraft would be decisive? Not in this century.

Either way, Russia has no need to wage war. Russia aims only to deter. And an intelligent missile that can go up to mach 30 and steer its way anywhere, never running out of fuel, now THAT is a deterrent. That and of course, their Poseidon mega-nuke submarine drone. Blow up a 20 megaton nuke in international water off the coast of the USA and there's no possible countermeasure to the miles-high tsunami that ensues.

Russia aims to deter, they have their deterrent and thus the world is safe from a nuclear Armageddon that might otherwise get triggered by the belligerent USA and its hordes of war-hungry bought-and-paid-for politicians.

    [–]radicalcentristNational Centrism[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Yes, India has a lot of arms deals with Russia. But this is not the point. You think in hot warfare HELICOPTERS or other aircraft would be decisive? Not in this century.

If you have physics-defying tech, you wouldn't have to limit it to just missiles. Once again, the best comparison is to look at local infrastructure. This technology could be used to upgrade trains and literally move millions of people in the blink of an eye. No one would ever be late for a job again...

When the USA was developing its top secret weapons, we did see a bit of a trickle down effect into civilian usage. Best example is probably the internet. Started off as the government sending emails to one an another, now everyone can do it.

If Russians are just developing UFO tech with the only intent of war, they're only holding their own country back.

Russia aims to deter, they have their deterrent and thus the world is safe from a nuclear Armageddon that might otherwise get triggered by the belligerent USA and its hordes of war-hungry bought-and-paid-for politicians.

The USA possesses 6,000 nuclear warheads and the ability to invade just about any nation in less than a week or even days. It would end in Armageddon for everyone but don't think Russia can actually repel the U.S if the time for war came.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

To deter isn't to repel. If Russia has good intel that the USA or NATO are about to stage a serious attack within their frontiers, they would do the next best thing to levelling North America, and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Think about it: at Mach 30, it takes 45 minutes to CIRCLE the Earth. The little hop from a sub in the Arctic or some other out-of-the-way spot, we're talking less than 5 minutes. Poof, all gone.

Of course, that's never going to happen. The HUMANE way of waging nuclear war is a stong EMP to cover that nation and a few miles-high tsunamis on the coasts. Those are actually allowed because they don't incinerate living people.

In other words, the USA would never have a chance at launching. Plus, nukes can't be used on masses of people.

    [–]radicalcentristNational Centrism[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

The little hop from a sub in the Arctic or some other out-of-the-way spot, we're talking less than 5 minutes. Poof, all gone.

These sub launched missiles are designed to split apart into space before falling back onto Earth. I really doubt they can stop more than a 100 of them at once before they start raining down on Russia.

And this is before considering the U.S has its own secret arsenal it could also reveal at Armageddon to either counter or distract from these threats. Remember, the internet was originally a U.S government project. So were the B-2 stealth bombers that other countries are still trying to catch up to.

I just can't accept this idea that Russia is somehow more advanced when the entire Soviet Union collapsed some odd 30 years ago and the Eastern bloc hasn't fully recovered. Putin would be better off cleaning up his own house first before trying to launch Cold War 2.

there's a term in philosophy called the 'other'. the 'other' is basically another being that's as intelligent and volicious as oneself. there's an innate fear to the 'other', as a famous quote from literature puts it: 'other people are hell'. i'm sure if we meet a brand new 'other', we'd get the same effect.

more bleak views have came out recently (three-body problem trilogy), claiming that the universe is basically a free-for-all.

from what we know, if they exist at all, aliens are far more advanced than us, having politics that's at least as mature as ours, and is generally leaving us alone.

the best case scenario is that alien life we know are far less advanced than us.

then there's AI, which is making very rapid progress.
