Just like the relation between IQ & Success, you should never let the entire world decide local decision making, as there's only a very few countries I consider respectable or good role models. And yes, that goes for the UK as well.

Boris Johnson is an idiot, just like Trump & Bolsonaro were. It's actually very reasonable to understand why their nations are suffering, but the vaccines themselves are still important. Any head of state that only has a kindergarten understanding of science will muck things up quickly.

My country directly borders the United States and just because they've failed harder to control the pandemic, has no relevance to how Canada handles our own affairs. If anything, it's our motivation to not be like them and do better.

On a federal level, our Prime Minister was never antivax or conspiracy theorist, and to his credit, we avoided the worst case scenarios that a "do nothing approach" would have destroyed us.

Where I live, our Premier has allied himself with antivax and the results have been disasters that could have been avoided. If both Provincial and Federal governments were on the same page and pushed the mandates, we would have been in the same spot as Japan or Taiwan and returned to normal.

Instead, the back and forth in-fighting between Trudeau (pro-science) and Doug Ford (against) has pushed our hospitals over the edge, and many people have been laid off from their jobs again.

It's getting tiring having to listen to one side make up the craziest excuses for their actions, when most Ontarians have made it clear that we support the vaccines and want the vocal minority to shut up.
