What the hell are the Chinese thinking?

Have you seen any footage from what's going on in Shanghai? It's absolutely insane what's going on there. Why are the Chinese doing this? Why do they keep pursuing the zero-Covid policy? It's utter madness. It will never work. China is run by engineers. I thought they were smarter than this.

China is the same. Chinese women won't marry you unless you own a house. No house, no pussy. Their TFR is now at 1.1. Japan ironically has the best TFR in east asia, 1.4 children per women. China is at 1.1, Taiwan 1.1, Hong Kong and Singapore at 1.

These are dying societies. They are what the west would be if all Jews disappeared after ww2 and it followed the logic of capitalism and liberalism to their logical end.

In the scale of civilizational decay, China is perhaps one or two generations behind the west. China is essentially in their gen x phase while the US is in a much more advanced stage of decay with its gen z phase.

It's not the highest, North Korea's at 1.91 last I checked. It's not like these countries aren't overpopulated, or most jobs weren't going to be automated anyway. Many of these countries are 20-30 years ahead of the West in terms of robotics. Population decline only threatens a nation when it is used as an excuse for mass "replacement" migration.

Modernity itself is the problem it seems. It goes deeper than capitalism and liberalism. China isn't liberal by any stretch of the imagination. It is however hypermodern. I wonder if the Chinese elites will eventually use totalitarian measures to fix this. I'm willing to bet that they're going to be the first ones to use artificial wombs en masse.

I think the west has higher birth rates because white men are on average more attractive than other races. Women are still interested enough to fuck you and have your baby even if you aren't a man with means.

In East Asia however, men are completely unattractive and look like girls. This is made even worse by the internet as Asian women can see men of other races. Thus, they have little incentive to marry an Asian man other than for money and security.

Asian men are just not attractive enough to sustain an out-of-wedlock fertility bump.

Capitalism, technology and industrial civilization are the problem. My thesis is that there are mainly three factors that cause fertility declines in societies: Female access to higher education, urbanization and high density living, and secularism.

Anyway, birth rates in the West fell below replacement level the moment women -- uneducated ones at first -- started to enter the labor force en masse.

I think lower class birth rates remained high regardless and the birth rates first sank in the educated classes where women didn't work. Women always worked. In the middle ages they worked on the family farm, they didn't just cook and clean all day. They worked on the farms, in the millers, drew milk from cows...and a dozen other things.

Women also ran taverns, made clothes and worked as servants.

Women always worked to supplement their husband's income. But they were family women first and foremost and the job was a support role.

The issue started when women started going to college. From there on, the plague of the ''career woman'' began.

    Japanese men don’t lift (working out is viewed as a “thug activity”), and they don’t fight either.

    More than that, it's seen as a gay thing. This is largely attributable to Yukio Mishima, the warrior-pederast. In the West, homosexuality is associated with effeminacy and dandyism, and this is the legacy of Oscar Wilde. (Richard Spencer is a dandy through and through, but I almost never see the accusation that he is therefore a homosexual.)

    If your TFR is .83 like Korea, i'm pretty sure you're on the path to destruction. Its a vicious cycle. Your population get older, so ever greater tax burdens and obligations fall on your younger generations. This leads to young people working more, being more stressed and having less kids. That in turn leads to an even older population and more dependency.

    At this rate, Europe and East Asia will transform into giant nursery homes with a government.

    And all this leaves out the fact, that the older and weaker your society becomes, the less military and economic strength it will command. That in turn will increasingly draw the gaze of predators on the margins. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is the best example of this.

    Russia would never have attempted this in 2000 even if it was a completely healthy society back then. Its doing so now because it sees the US in terminal decline.

      Well the videos are being published by Western sources to try to get Western countries to do the same shit in 6 months. As for why China does this, it's because the CCP hands out directives which are followed to an autistic degree by officials without really considering collateral damage.

      I don't know either, they will have to open up sooner or later because order always loses to chaos, but I think what they're doing is still keeping it closed until it can be verified that next variants will be weaker.

      China doesn't have such natural immunity, not many people had it, so omicron (which many of us consider mild, although that's disputable) might as well be detrimental to them.

      The Chinese government has never cared about disease running rampant through their country before. These lockdowns are being mandated by a power higher than the chinese government. The goal is testing how much control they have and ultimately I think they will be using what they learn to cull a certain percentage of their population through starvation.
