Traditions aren't something politically neutral that you should simply cultivate without questioning. They produce and reproduce narratives of who belongs and who doesn't. The mockery of this exclusive Bavarian ethno folklore is therefore correct and important.

    I speak from personal experience. I am online friends with two Germans, have known them both for many years. One is from the East, one is from the West. The stereotype is very real.
