Is there a process to request an existing sub with defunct/inactive or squatter mods?

just skimmed through onboarding and couldn't find any info on superficial read about requesting an existing sub.

why can't there just be a button appear once the last moderator leaves so we csn become the new moderator

I mean, sure, cops are getting disappeared.

But can we really be worried about an actively investigatory administration of laws?

I mean, after all, I haven'ae paid my health care penalty in, like, a few years. My being here is evidence of such (or lackthereof said administrative interpretation).
