Undocumented immigrants in New York state can now apply for a driver's license in the same way citizens do.

The Green Light Law is now in effect in New York state.

DMVs across the state will no longer ask driver's license applicants for their immigration status.

Anyone 16 years or older can now apply for a standard, non-commercial driver's license or learner's permit regardless of their immigration status.

You cannot get insurance without a license. Insurance protects us all. Further, a license involves passing a test. This keeps us all safer.
