They correctly identified him as an enemy combatant.

Good shooting, boys.

While I think he took a big risk being there, what makes you think he was an enemy combatant?

Journalists are the enemy of the people.

They are professional liars. Remember when they lied about Iraq? What are they lying about in Ukraine?

All of them? What do you know of Brent Renaud?

He is employed by corporate media, what more do you need?

If you're in a profession whose major product causes harm, you're no better than anyone who works for cigarette companies. You know what you are, and what you do, and there's no excuse for staying in that job. None.

That is a false syllogism.

"The battle is won when the average corporate journalist is regarded in the same way as the average tobacco executive. They have a job; they're promoting their product; their product is cancerous and deadly; they're often bright people; they're often good people; but beware of what it is they're selling you."

The product is information. I agree that there is a problem with rampant bias and disinformation, but I think it is wrong to label every journalist into a bad actor. Sharyl Attkisson is a good example that there are still truth-seeking journalists.

2 possibilities:

/u/Chipit doesn't think

or/and

Chipit wants Putin to murder millions of innocent civilians

Journalists aren't innocent. They play a large role in manufacturing consent. They cause war and suffering all over the world. They are worse than any soldier with an AK.

None of this is correct, Chipit. Journalists are hired to report on important events. How that works in the broader context is unrelated to most journalists. Numerous innocent people, and this journalist are in the past 2 weeks murdered and their lives destroyed for no reason by Putin's military. Imagine if that happened to you.

Journalists' brains show a lower-than-average level of executive functioning, which means they have a below-average ability to regulate their emotions, suppress biases, solve complex problems, switch between tasks, and show creative and flexible thinking.

Unless they specifically aimed at journalists it's really disingenuous to frame it as anything but an unfortunate casualty of war since otherwise every unit would have a journalist with them to discourage mines/bombs/missiles
