“It seems like the ones they’re closing are in the Black and Brown community,” said activist and Chatham Walmart customer Pam Bosley. “This one is busy, so I don’t know what the issue is.”

In a statement, the company said: “These stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years.”

Well, there you have it. It appears the community didn't agree with the concept of paying for goods.

They forgot to mention that the "busy" part was "busy being robbed with no recourse"

"You better not close your store, or else I won't shop there anymore!"

Retarded. They weren't shopping at Walmart, they were robbing them in broad daylight. That's why they're closing. The only reason they're protesting is because the remaining locations are in communities where people actively conceal carry.

People definitely carry concealed weapons in those Wal-Marts that are closing, too.

Indeed, but how many of the pistol packing customers are present during 10am-4pm on a weekday when the bulk of shop lifting occurs?

I saw a guy carrying a pistol openly in Walmart it was kind of shocking to me I wasn't expecting to see that.

Personally I think it'd be fun to carry one of them really long black powder rifles with the super long barrel and a knife on the end of the barrel

[–]carn0ld03 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

By 'a knife', do you mean bayonet?

[–]popcorn 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Sure a bayonet would work but couldn't we just use a plastic butter knife with a serrated edge? It's not the weapon that you use it's the attitude that you have when you swing it.

Who knows? You might be able to find them made using carbon fiber.

They'll pretty much have to boycott it since, you know... they fucked up and lost their Wal-Mart.

I knew a bunch of people, who would claim shoplifting from Walmart was fine, because they are a big corporation and well, they don't need the money. There's some truth in the argument. Walmart won't miss the odd piece of missing merchandise, but they didn't seem to grasp the idea that if they and their friends stole from Walmart, they'd just pass on the cost to the customer at higher prices. So they were hurting the little guy in a roundabout way.

Now they're simply experiencing the long term consequences of that problem. if you allow rampant theft to take place then the community will no longer be suitable for business and they'll leave. And they are protesting because now without a Walmart nearby they are going to have to pay more for shittier shit.

That's why I think it's best to leave fucked up neighborhoods. If you're living in some poor neighborhood with a bunch of dumbasses that don't see how stealing shit hurts the general economy and neighborhood as a whole. Time to move out somewhere that isn't gonna get sunk by the idiots.

Good comment. This is what some don't understand about "food deserts". The groceries are scarce in some areas because you can't make money operating that kind of business there.

Import Africa. Elect Africa. Become Africa.

They boycott the remaining stores, then Walmart closes all locations. Doh!

"Where do seniors get their medicine?" "Where do you get food for your family?" How pathetic. Open your own store. Grow your own food. Buy medicine from a community pharmacy. What's wrong with these negroes? Worst case scenarios move back to Africa away from racist whiteys.

My wet dream.

They are nothing but parasites.

They are too lazy to do that. Even with government help. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/business-loans/small-business-grants-for-minorities/ https://www.bankrate.com/loans/small-business/business-grants-for-minorities/

You see before Walmart there were Mom and Pop stores that were smaller. Owned by families.

Frankly, closing these stores, which are losing money like crazy, will really only help Walmart's bottom line.

I still grocery shop at Walmart because they've been able to keep their grocery prices fairly low and I am not a rich woman.

Also, I hate American negroes. I feel like gorillas have more humanity than they do.

Just a heads up, you're not saving any money. Their private label selection is very underproduced and they charge more than name brand grocery stores for name brand items, and the chain grocerers have better private label selections, not only in quantity, but quality as well.

Several shopper programs have posted receipts for Walmart vs Kroger, Meijer, and the like and wal mart was the most expensive for the same list of stuff. Of course there are anomalies, but in a whole trip for a cart full of goods, you're not saving anything.

Plus, there is always that little thing that you're paying one of the richest families in America, that doesn't pay taxes, to socialize the cost of doing business, while privatizing the profits, all while paying a large percentage of their workers under the poverty line.

Shut up cracker

[–]Zapped[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Walmart lost money for years on their groceries just to keep people coming into the stores. I forget the average amount you spend if they can get you inside, but it is insane to me. I haven't heard what their profit margin is lately, but it may be break-even. Most grocery stores operate around 5%.

[–]SMCAB 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Their game is squeezing the vendors. I guarantee they pay less for everything in the store, so they can afford it a bit. And still yet, they charge more for almost every name brand item in the store vs a standard grocery chain. So where's the loss happening?

5 percent isn't too bad after shrink for selling something that every single person on the planet needs daily if you think about it that way.

[–]Zapped[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I had information from within on the losses. They accepted the losses to squeeze the competition, not the vendors. Logistics getting the produce was part of the problem. I do know about them strong-arming the vendors, too.

[–]WoodyWoodPecker 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They have laws against stopping shoplifters. Touch one of them and they can sue you for kidnapping because you touched them. So either way they make money.

[–]package 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Maybe demonstrators could protest the DA for not charging people who shoplift or their lawmakers for weak laws surrounding shoplifting or the people in the community who shoplift maybe.

So, they scream boycott instead of taking responsibility for the behaviour of their community. Good luck with that.

[–]UncleWillard56 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So the assholes who are stealing from Walmart to the point where they lose more money than they take in don't like when they pack up their stores and go somewhere where they can make money? fuck these cunts.
