Obviously this type of thing is going to continue to happen. And given the nature of the way this was uncovered, it's likely happened many times previously.

I doubt it would ever come to pass but what we need is a law that specifically parses out information incidentally uncovered under such demands and allows individuals to deny the use of such incidentally uncovered information in further proceedings.

Certainly, we all believe "the gubmint" is out to just collect as much info as possible for future use. And obviously it's also being claimed that if these scopes are being illegally sold to known terrorist organizations, it's "all hands on deck."

Both are not with validity. Now obviously, such fish finding missions do lead to uncovering other illegal activity -- which findings, have in the past, often been deemed inadmissible based on suspicious discovery by law enforcement.

While we all hope that this demand fails and future such demands are also turned away, there "oughta be a law" against use of evidence "incidentally" dragnetted.

It's just like fishermen are allowed to use a dragnet but they have to ensure that they are throwing back the non-targeted fish. It's the Dolphin Safe Tuna of law enforcement information gathering.

No country in history has ever hated freedom as much as the USA does.

You know that all hope is lost when you talk to 5 Americans in one day and one says that the Bill of Rights should be repealed, another says blacksmithing should be illegal, one swears wearing fur should be a crime, one says private charities should be outlawed, and another says bump stocks must be banned.

Disgusting.

It's ironic you said that, we went to eat falafel last night and the owner had on CNN which was talking about NOAA being forced to confirm the hurricane thing.

That led off a group of people eating there, most were millennial, to openly and loudly discuss how they could change the constitution, so they could remove the 2nd amendment, remove the electoral college, and implement policy for climate change. They were really frustrated and belligerent.

After they left the owner said he thought if everyone thinks like this, the U.S. will become like his home country of Syria. i couldn't tell if he thought this was a good or bad thing. But I think the list of people who value liberty, Not just liberty for opinions/ideas they like, grows very thin.

It's funny my gal purchased something from REI and was irritated that she had to give a lot of personal info even though she had it shipped to store whereas in the store she could purchase it with her card and not have to give up any info other than her card.

Thats the cost of business online.

There is a new outrage every day.

Why politicians have not been assassinated by now is a mystery.

Government workers have sold their souls for a paycheck. How could any American not know about the Bill of Rights and be so willing to violate it?
