You didn't actually refute the point. This is just an ad hominem attack, in violation of Saidit TOS.

An ad hominem sounds like "you are an asshat" or "a perfect Saidit comment". It does not address an argument or refute it. We follow the Pyramid of Debate here. This isn't Reddit.

Teaching is a skill built by real world experience like tutoring. A high schooler with a strong understanding of math who has successfully tutored peers is better prepared to teach a math class than an education major who has never actually taught.

College is where one learns to teach.

If that were true then we would have seen an improvement in student learning. We haven't. All the work that has gone into the study of education is either inexplicably not applied or the entire field is quackery.

Given the absurdity of what comes out of modern psychiatry I tend to favor the latter.

This account is engaging in insults and smears. It's not a good fit for Saidit, where we make arguments instead of attacking the other posters.

Sorry, but disagree. Many private schools, as well as public schools in wealthy areas, have excellent student outcomes because they can afford teachers from top schools and don't overwhelm them with huge class sizes. The main issues in education are extremely low wages lack of funding in the classroom. There's no reason a teacher should make the same as someone working at Starbucks.

            [–]Canbot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Wealthy schools always had excellent outcomes. I would argue that it is because they have higher IQ students. But regardless what excuse you want to claim the fact is that there is not a measurable increase in education anywhere despite all the "advancements" in education theory.

And it doesn't matter how well some schools do. All schools would have an increase in effectiveness if the claim that colleges produce better teachers were true. If education theory were valid it would work everywhere.

            The future state of education

Kid: "Teacher, how do you integrate transcendental functions?"

Teacher: "I have street smarts not book smarts, college is for chumps"

            [–]HPFL 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

“Street smarts“ is a ghetto myth usually perpetrated by people who have been to jail multiple times.

Dumbing down? Wow, that's needlessly partisan. You don't need a bachelor's to teach in a public school. It's just that there are a ton of control freaks in education administration. They only want their own kind teaching children. Teacher just isn't that hard of a job, but they're really trying hard to gatekeep and exclude anyone who doesn't fit their mold.

Which sentences? And in what way? Provide evidence. Make arguments. This is just contradiction and insults.

I can tell you're a Redditor. These aren't arguments. "No need to provide evidence" is classic Reddit.

If any word of that gaslighting statement of communist propaganda was true, then the January 6 freedom fighters would have been great enough in number to destroy every enemy of Donald Trump on the face of the earth.

The school boards thwarted the GOP and and now they lay in their own bed. This is a GOP told-you-so moment.

I hope you don't really believe any of this gaslighting nonsense...

You seem really misinformed and are playing the GOP as a boogeyman. That's pretty insulting to the intelligence of the reader, who knows better. Most of us remember how DeSantis was thwarted by school boards, while cheered on by Dems, to their own demise.

It's because the education system long ago became a left-wing brainwashing operation. They have open Marxists teaching, and you think they tell you anything but their own side of the story? LOL no. There is no place more intellectually stultifying where free speech is suppressed more.

They don't have open Marxists teaching? Really?

And these Marxists teach students the whole story, instead of a warped Marxist version of reality? Really?

Universities are bastions of free speech? Huh? They have safe spaces, with stuffed animals and taped videos of animals playing, and soft calming music. These are for students who literally are harmed by hearing ideas that don't agree with what their professors taught them.

                      [–]HPFL 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The problem is that freezepeach is nothing but a yt supremacist, het supremacist, g-nt-l- supremacist dog whistle for that makes it impossible for the state to prosecute verbal terrorists before their verbal terrorism enables physical terrorism. And it always does. Giving rights to deviants and degenerates puts the rights of normal people at risk.

                      [–]HPFL 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Mental health slurs are hate speech especially when they are advancing a communist propaganda narrative. Flagged for ableist bigotry which is verbal terrorism.

It’s the only reason we don’t still have slavery. The GOP is literally the only thing standing between this country and the return of slavery. No, the majority of Americans do not know this because it is not fucking true. Stop projecting the anti-intellectualism of anti-Republican traitors onto the GOP because if it wasn’t for us you wouldn’t even be able to read and write your own fucking name. It wasn’t the GOP who shoehorned communist propaganda into every subject. It wasn’t the GOP who dumbed down the American collegiate system the same way.

No, the GOP is not responsible for the dumbing down of America. It’s the opposition to the GOP that argue that every stupid pop-culture fad that came down the pipe since the end of World War II was “no big deal.“ It’s the opposition to the GOP that keeps throwing money at government schools with no resulting increase in test scores. It’s the opposition to the GOP that keeps pushing deviancy and degeneracy which is as bad as dumbing down the mind.
