The US already has access to all US citizen purchases, though several avenues.

There's a difference between being hypothetically able to pull a bunch of strings to collect data, and having all the data intentionally easily available.

There's nothing hypothetical. The contracts are part of public record.

This data is publicly for sale. The US government and many police organizations, simply have commercial contracts to receive it in bulk.
