This forgets what war is always about. Theft. Historically soldiers were generally allowed a cut of everything they stole, everyone they enslaved. War started as the earliest way to get rich. Now wars mostly enrich a few corporations and plutocrats but originally, if a soldier survived, he came home with more than he started with.
