What's with the sudden bump at around the time of the lockdowns? Increased introspection or...

Good question. No polls were taken in '18 and '19. These polls are notoriously inaccurate but interesting. In this case the data was gathered by telephone and that creates an artifact since who wants to give the details of their sex life to some stranger on the phone? It seems certain that the LGBTQ numbers are above the reported seven percent, don't you think? If I had to guess, I would say that the bump was the result of generally more openness about sexual matters. The best way to gather this sort of information would be by blind poll so no one knows your name or, especially, your telephone number.

I think more people are bisexuals than they realize or admit. Like that scene from the movie Hair where a guy says "I wouldn't kick Mick Jagger out of my bed, but I'm not gay." That's not 100% straight either, so...

In navies around the world you have men who are straight on land and gay on water. In prison, the straightest of men go over to the gay side.

And it isn't 7.2. Do you now how many of those people don't know their ass from a hole in the ground yet, but claim to like the same sex or that their taco needs to be a mangled hot dog? A lot.

I did not say the poll was accurate. See my response to MarkJefferson. I enjoy seeing the results of such polls and then speculating on how inaccuracies are built in to the design. If called and asked such questions, my response would be: none of your damned business.

I certainly didn't mean to imply you believed it was accurate. Just a thought on it. When I paid attention to polls, I would think about the same things. My response would be to fuck with them in some fashion, off the top of my head I'd say, "I identify as an ornate table leg. I can do that if I want, don't ask me how it's possible, my words are your reality, don't be a bigot and change the English language right now to make me feel good inside about this possible phase I'm going through to find acceptance." Who knows? Depends how bored I was.

Good. Keep on fucking with 'em. "...ornate table leg..." I like it.

Yeah, sometimes I use lampshade and get really dumb with it. I drive a lot for work, I have to answer my phone when it rings because I'm in sales, for every solicitation I get, and I fuck with them too, there's money on the other end of random numbers from someone I met or got my number somehow. So I answer them all, and when bored, I keep em on a long as possible while dancing the line of keeping it real. So they don't hang up, I want the car insurance people to actually start looking for coverage on 1908 Model T.

I'd like to be there with you so we could get down and solve this once and for all. You sound like my kind of guy.

I would have sworn it was a bit over 10%. But polls just aren't that accurate anymore. I mean, Biden was the top choice for prez?
