Fortunately the Bible has a million translations. You can pick and choose your favorite one, and avoid the ones that are shit.

I don't think anyone else even knows about this, let alone has a translation of it. Pretty much all of them have a HEAVY fundamentalist bias anyway, and use all kinds of churchy language to obfuscate clear meanings.

We have easy to understand versions, like the CEV. And even if the Bible, as accurately translated from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, was "fundamentalist," we need not take it seriously.

I wouldn't go as far as not taking it seriously. But we need to wake up and realize how big of an idol it's become.

The source is the text itself.

You say to the only active admin.

[–]NodeThis is my flair. There are many like it, but this one is mine. 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Ah, so it was a mistake to come back here.

I don't think so personally. Vulptex is cool.

It's still the teaching of the Catholic church that the consecrated ordained or religious life is greater than the married state (which is also good).

As Christ says in Matthew

19:12 there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that can take, let him take it.

Simultaneously the Church exhorts those in the married state to be open to life in their marriage, and to follow God's first commandment to humanity in Genesis "be fruitful and multiply"

This is still recognized by some branches, yes. But even in those ones not marrying is generally frowned upon in practice.
