My brain autocorrected to "straight guys" because of how absolutely absurd that was to read

The scary thing is the way 13 year olds have been able to successfully colonise LBG and women's space online and bully the fuck out of adults pushing back. Schoolyard bullies have escaped the confines of actual schoolyards. Social media is a scary weapon in the hand of children and the child-minded.

I really wonder how historians/researchers are going to explain this era in the future. Are they going to admit that a bunch of anonymous sexually frustrated toddlers held the internet hostage for years and managed to scare and bully adults into insanity, or is it all going to be ignored and swept up under the rug.

I'm afraid that in the next 20 years, no one will be allowed to post anonymously anymore because of these stupid kids and their irresponsible parents who use the internet as a babysitter and then go 'IDK what happened???' We will all have to have accounts with our full names, location, and picture of our faces attached in order to be allowed to post anywhere. Having a fake account will be a crime. And when that time comes, I'll just never post again.

Ban under-16s from social media, and the problem lessens a good bit.

Yeah, but I remember way back when sites would say you needed parent permission to join or be 13+. Not like that ever stopped me. I'm talking early 2000s too, before all this got outta hand.

Come on, they must be obviously trolling at this point. Or perhaps we should not let 12 years olds post on social medias.

My country has considered banning under-16s from posting on social media. Needless to say, I’m favour of this.

Frankly I think it would attenuate a lot of problems.

Teens always say dumb stuff. But years ago you didn't need to interact with teens unless you're a teacher or a parent.

Now adults on social media are actually giving plataform for dumb teens. I might choose to not follow any teen on social media, but the adults I follow might be sharing posts made by dumb teens.

I had this discussion with a friend a while back. Whilst I don't think teens should be totally voiceless when it comes to politics before social media took off the adults were firmly in charge. Social media has handed teens way too much power and the politicians and companies don't realise half the time how manipulated they are. I think if a lot of adults could see the person behind the avatar they'd think twice about what they retweet/endorse. Same applies for anime girl avatars which invariably will be some balding, beardy, old dude.

https://4thwavenow.com/2019/03/20/tumblr-a-call-out-post/

this is a great article written by a former tumblr user about how and why tumblr's been able to screw up activism all over the world, but obviously it's an issue with all of social media. It's dangerous how normal this has all become

I'm currently 16 and I was never this stupid. Not to say that such a ban would be a bad idea, but it's a little unfair to lump us all into any one category. In my opinion the general public should use way less social media all around though, it's a time wasting dopamine cycle that ultimately does more harm than good. But we're all hooked at this point.

Except that the 4chan trolling turns into a new chapter in a gender studies class 6 months later.

Let them validate the "Lesbian Gays" and the circle of life will be complete.

You don't know the half of it, "Straight gays/Straight lesbians" used to be one of my jokes. I'm living in a twilight zone, all my horrible shit jokes are coming true!

Fear not, there are already "genderfluid" people who claim to be both gay and lesbian and insist that they're welcome in both our spaces

[–]BiHorror 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

And anyone who's "attracted" to them? Auto gay. Even tho this person could be female, and the person who's "gay" might actually be a straight man... But now, he's gay supposedly.

"yes ace people are valid" But what about "ace pansexuals"? You bigot.

[–]OPPRESSED_REPTILIANIntersex male | GNC | Don't call me "a gay", "twink" or "queen" 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Funny, that's not what they believed when I was calling myself straight. LGBT+ "community" was constantly bullying me for saying I was "straight with exceptions" and trying to force me to admit that I was "super gay" and liked being sodomized by a million men a day.

I think they need to start practicing what they preach. If "straight gays" (and I can't express how much I hate "gays" as a noun) are "valid" then why the fuck are they so nasty to "closeted" people???

[–]latuspodSuper Straight 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This all makes sense when language has no meaning.

[–]Tikiri 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I mean ... I suspected it might come to this (because let’s face it, most TRAs are straight), but never thought it would actually happen.😕

[–]Poppy29252Natal Cat Woman 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I wonder what that means, seriously. What could their definition possibly be?

[–]latuspodSuper Straight 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

So the split attraction model is batshit crazy, but essentially who you are attracted to sexually can be different than who you are attracted to romantically. You could be a heterosexual biromantic, or a bisexual heteroromantic. Or any other combination, that makes you feel the most special. I would guess that a straight gay is either heterosexual homoromantic or homosexual heteroromantic.

They create language pretending that it is making things more clear, but it really does the opposite.

[–]PriestTheyCalledHimBisexual 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Wtf is a 'straight gay' a new word for being bisexual? Or a term for masculine bi and gay men?

A woman cannot be bisexual and lesbian either.

[–]crodish 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This aggravates me as much as "he/him lesbians are VALID uwu"

Like I've seen "gay" used interchangeably with "homosexual", so like "two gay girls" is understandable, and some people say "oh hurr some really butch women go by he/him pronouns!" but every time I see "he/him lesbian" it just screams "transbian" and "I'M SPESHULLLLL!!!1"

[–]upcomingDaddygay af 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Straight gays

To these people language is a tool to advance and propagate "desirable" social norms. Any sort of truth or consistency is always secondary to the goal of ideological dissemination.
