i feel more feminine gay men will come out as transwomen because they feel they'll be either more accepted or they feel that because their not "manly" enough to still be men, same with lesbians who don't fit into the stereotype of what a woman or lesbian is.

I agree, & the sad truth is that these individuals will become more confused & depressed once they realize that altering their bodies (genitals in extreme cases) won't change the fact that biological males & females still won't consider them as sexual or romantic options. Those who have dysphoria & don't care about that & just want to live their lives in a way that they can cope, I sincerely wish them the best & they deserve to live their lives. But, those who think that surgeries & hormones put them into others sexual orientations' dating options, quite frankly, it doesn't. Better to just learn to love who you are, than to change to become something that you can't.

That's how homosexuality manifests itself in most cultures. The culture will re-classify their homosexual population as something other than man or woman. The more traditionalist the culture, the more heteronormative gay relationships have to become. Our heteronormative society has shifted from considering a homosexual's sexual orientation as a defect, to regarding the homosexual's sex as being the defect. Instead of pathologising/converting their sexuality, we are now pathologising/converting their sex.

Why all these heterosexuals are transitioning is a complete mystery to me though, as this latter phenomenon is unique to the West. I'm guessing middle-class cultures are more susceptible to neuroses, which lead to the paraphilia & teen sub-cultures which appropriate gender identity?

Too much time on their hands? I'm baffled at the number of heterosexuals attempting to become "trans" as well. Transwomen (biological males) attempting to get with lesbians baffles me. As do transmen (biological females) attempting to get with gay men. These are clearly heterosexual males & females, who honestly confuses the heck out of me. Forbidden fruit? Validation? I just don't know.

I also wonder if their rejection of homosexuality is SO extreme that, along with being unable to accept it in themselves, they can't accept it in their objects of desire, either-- meaning that they aren't attracted to their fellow gay men. Only straight guys will do. And to get THEM... you've gotta be a woman, right? Or rather: a "woman". Defined solely as something to appeal to het dudes. Since that's pretty much the reason why these refusing-to-accept-gayness-inside-or-out guys "transition" in the first place.

So maybe it's as much about their insistence on STRAIGHT and nothing but, when it comes to boyfriend/husband/hookup material, as anything else?

I've seen all seasons of Project Runway, where Swapnil was a contestant a couple of years ago. Over the years there were several designers on the show, who were the stereotypical cliche of gay men that a lot of people still cling to, and that the trans movement is reinforcing: very effeminate and/or flamboyant. If one of these contestants would have come out as trans, I wouldn't have battet an eye. But Swapnil was never like that. He was an extremely unpleasant to watch, rude chainsmoking asshole. - So it turns out he is a typical narcissistic AGP.
