One of the worst - but definitely not the worst - aspects of homophobia is the mentality that gay men are not real men. That we don’t deserve to be treated like men just because we’re gay. And now you have liberals who are scared to treat us like men just because they associate us with the alphabet soup movement, which seeks to eliminate gender from society. Allowing ourselves to get caught up in the soup is destroying everything we’ve built. The irony is sickening.

I think this is the heart of homophobia, the idea that gay men aren't real men and lesbians aren't real women because we "reject the most important gender role; performing heterosexuality". Alphabet soup wants to eliminate sex and enshrine gender in it's place, that demands homosexuality be erased and replaced with "same gender attraction/homogenderality".

Old school homophobes who don’t consider us to be our true sexes deny our manhoods or your womanhoods because of the expectation that we as humans must reproduce. But at least old school homophobes will warn you that they are homophobic so that you don’t have to deal with them. Woke homophobes either don’t know they are being homophobic or they deny it. Regardless these woke homophobes won’t leave us alone and demand we dedicate our spaces for their agenda. So avoiding these people is hard to do.

Well said. With conservative homophobes you know what they stand for and what to expect. Progressive homophobes act like they are our allies and speak on our behalf.

I’ve had two coworkers tell me that they walked on eggshells around me when they found out I’m a lesbian. They were both afraid they’d say something wrong and I’d get them sent to HR.

All I ever wanted was for me being gay to not be a big deal. TQ+ insists on making it a big deal while also making everyone else scared of us. It’s maddening.

This is why I have no intention of coming out at work. I don’t want to be dealing with this.
