Ways to know if you’re in a cult: you have to question if you can say science is real.

You have to ask permission to believe in things. This person is literally crowdsourcing their opinions. I've seen this elsewhere, as in "guys, is this transphobic? I can't tell"

What cracks me up is you know everyone in that thread hates religion because “it denies science and keeps people from thinking for themselves.” There’s zero self-awareness that they belong to one of the most fundamentalist religions currently in existence.

Yes, exactly!!! So ironic to see this behavior out in full force, when I used to witness the exact same thing among extremely dogmatic Christians, for example.

In a way, I'm a little bit glad that I grew up in a religion, just so that I could know what red flags to watch out for as an adult...

Wow, they aren't even trying to hide it anymore. They really admitted that supporting women's rights and believing science makes you a terf.

If TERFs are in support of women and science and that is what makes them against the T, then what does the T support and oppose? I try to imagine that nuance exists in the world, but they got rid of any room for it when they said, "Oh, no! It says to support science, that must mean they hate us"

Just more supporting evidence that this is a religion.

"This doesn't mean applying science to gender woo-woo, right? Trans is safely exempt?"

What's especially telling is... they seem aware that it NEEDS to be. That "trans" and science are like oil and water: they don't mix.

So... why are they still supporting what they apparently concede is incompatible with science (i.e., reality)?

Oooo, that is a really good point, Pensee! Nice catch.

Thank you! I'm continually looking for weak points in the transgenderist movement, you know? Of course the entire thing is clearly bunk, but we need as many telling critiques as possible, I think. So that either the cumulative effect brings them down... or we find the equivalent of that exhaust vent on the Death Star, and can fire a torpedo of devastating logic into it :)

It's not so much an exhaust vent as a massive gaping hole that has a bunch of neon signs pointing at it.

Apparently its against their religion to think for yourself.

It is definitely a secular religion as someone who used to believe in this BS. That’s why this ideology easily became a social contagion.

Secular Religion is an oxymoron. They fancy themselves secular and rational, but they are not.

Science is real but only for the things I advocate for

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Why would seeing science is real and women's rights on the same poster make you think TERF? Is it because you people accuse everyone who supports science and women's rights of being TERFs?

[–]Socialjustus 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So they know they're anti-science then?

[–]reluctant_commenter 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh my fucking god lol. Yet another reason why I absolutely refuse to call myself q*eer.

When did such a large swath of political liberals start being anti-science?? The hypocrisy and lack of critical thinking here is astounding. If these people are only going to accept science as legitimate when it agrees with their beliefs, then they're no different from the anti-vaxxers or climate change deniers.
