"Essentialism"! This is the second time today I've heard this relatively obscure/specialized term being used in one of their arguments. I wonder if this word is part of a new talking point that they now have to persuade people into accepting their wholesale re-definitions of long established labels. By implying that it's somehow dogmatic and prejudiced to actually be aware of and publicly maintain what a particular label means at it's most basic level.

It's been in their lexicon for a long time. Basically they use it to attack anything and anyone who wants words to have definitions.

If there's one thing gay men like, it's hanging out with other gay men. Why? Because most of their time is spent with people who are not gay men.

What's the appeal with turning places gay men frequent into ✨queer spaces✨? If gay men wanted to hang out with people who are not gay men they could go do that anywhere else.

So you totally understand the need for spaces "without us," (which I do too!) and also don't want there to be spaces that are just "for us." What simpering cowardice. "Our broader queer agenda," is to make gay men and lesbians dependent upon the goodwill of the other alphabets.

How is gender expression policed? What markers and characteristics do our literal gatekeepers lean into when making their judgements? Is self-identification enough? Or must we perform our gender in a way that satisfies the cultural undercurrent of the space?

How about the decency to not invite yourself? This is not an attack on you, stop playing a victim.

The excessive use of the word queer in the first few articles tell me all I need to now that this article is going to be gold. Nevertheless, I have already addressed the issue of male only spaces for gay men in some other thread for an article written by some idiot from Belfast, so I won’t waste my time.
