Time and time again I’ve had to see posts that say things like “being attracted to men proves sexuality isnt a choice”. It’s such bullshit.

I’ve been struggling lately with feeling like if I was at least attracted to women in any form, i’d be happier. But then I start thinking about it, honestly even if my attraction was completely my choice I’d still choose to be attracted solely to men.

Because you're heterosexual. Ofc you'd choose to be with men, you're incapable of being attracted to other women. Just like gay men are incapable of being attracted to you. 🙄

I mean, why wouldn’t I? The way that they love, the things they say and the way they feel are all so concrete in my mind. I don’t think its fair to expect every gay, bi or pan man, etc, to preface his sexuality with “I know its wrong” or “I can’t help myself” or “most men arent sweet like this” or whatever. Of course we live in a world where it can be dangerous to open up to a man but holy fuck it is astonishing that mlm dudes can’t just post happily without prefacing it.

Forgive me, im not at all saying your experience is invalid, it's just whenever ive seen a post like this it's always from a straight woman's perspective. I've legit never seen it in the context of mlm. I think straightcis people got their own shit to work out on their own time which would lead some to talk about men this way lol

My attraction to men isn’t unfortunate. I love men. Men are beautiful. My attraction to men was fundamental to me realizing I needed to transition and be my authentic self, which is to live as a gay man. I have rich relationships with people of all genders, and there is the good and the bad for any demographic of person. I have separated myself from people who make me feel guilty for being myself. I fought for this.

The comments have the best crazy! Usually I'd say attraction to anyone is never an unfortunate thing but since this woman's attraction to men seems to be the source of her hatred and self-harm journey, yeaahhh your attraction to men is very unfortunate. Both for herself and the poor gay men who have to deal with her.
