Was just going to post something similar. This is the mistake that makes me lose sympathy for the gay guy: are you so weak willed that you have to ask permission to assert your sexual orientation? I don't care if people perceive me as an asshole, especially people who hold zero power over me.

Exactly. I think the problem with a lot of gay men is that they want everybody to like them. This explains why a lot of gay men give in to woke culture and neoliberalism. It also explains why do gay men lash out at people who say anything that is even slightly homophobic, like saying that religious bakeries should have a right to refuse to cater to same sex weddings. I don’t know where this mentally that "everybody should like me" comes from, but it is incredibly self-destructive. The best lesson that college has taught me is that I don’t need everybody to like me, and that lesson has made my life a lot better because now I focus only on a handful of people who enjoy my presence. Instead of campaigning for laws that prohibit hate speech, we should teach young people, especially young homosexuals, that you don’t need everybody to like you. I can empathise with young people who haven’t learned that lesson. But if you’re 60 years old and it bothers you that somebody doesn’t like you, then I cannot respect you.

I don’t care if other people hate me, as long as there are some people who love me and like me. I’m not afraid to reject a transgender person who wants to date me or have sex with me.
