"I as a trans woman who has sex with women and a pornstar" Wait he's proud of being a sex addicted straight man?

Straight people not appropriating gay termiology challenge (impossible).

Fyi: I know this is a dude, but I'm just saying this in general. It feels like the number of straights, especially women, calling themselves "bottom" or "top" went up. At least internet wise. It's just like when they started calling every feminine man a "twink." Regardless if he was actually gay or not.

The top commenter (slashcleverusername) seems to have gotten it spot on:

topping and bottoming are terms from homosexual sex. It’s lovely that straight people have been so inspired but it’s really nothing to do with them, historically.

You may be confusing this with terms from bdsm, which is not strictly about position, but people who also get some kind of sexy thrill from playing around with roles about who is more assertive and who lets it happen or follows the other person’s lead.

If you go to a gay man's group, of course they'll say topping/bottoming is theirs. If you go to a BDSM group, they'll say it's theirs. It's about context.

Hetero BDSM got it from gay men. It's irritating to see straight women call themselves "bottom" and "tops". They're not gay men. Dom, sub, and switch exists.

Top and Bottom as nouns are already unhelpful enough in the gay community, I don't think we should be exporting that. Topping and bottoming can be verbs very easily, just to point out, but identifying as a Top or as a Bottom can be restrictive to one's thinking. There are lots of ways to enjoy sexual pleasure with someone that aren't anal.

While it can be debatable that top/bottom is unhelpful in the community, it doesn't help when straight people (esp women) are using it in place of dom, and sub. Thus, bringing back stereotypes. Being top =/= dominant, nor does bottom = submissive. Which is how I've been seeing it used.

Now, if we could just overall just drop the terms? Sure. At least no one gets to use it ig. But, realistically that isn't going to happen, because some gay men DO find it helpful in partners, convos, etc.

Sure, but we're not talking about other sexual acts. We're talking about top/bottom. Outside of that, could just be labeled as sub, dom, and switch if desired.
