Welcome to /s/MentalHealth, a place to talk about real life struggles, emotional support, psychology, therapy, etc.

Please give detailed advice:

Instead of telling everyone to simply "seek help" please try a more detailed approached, eg explaining:

  • How your friends (or your therapists) have helped you.
  • How to find a good caring therapist.

You deserve recovery!

The most important people to improve your mental health are 1) you, 2) you again, and 3) your friends, neighbors, and family.

Our favorites:

  • "Why are you so quiet?"

  • "Don't let abuse affect your emotions: once you realize someone is an abuser their opinions shouldn't matter to you."

Beware of bad therapy:

While there are many therapists & mental health professionals that seriously want to help you, many people have had bad experiences too. Many therapists seek easy patients (easy profits), and if you've had difficult trauma they try to send you to someone else.

Please be skeptical of profit seekers.

It's great if you have felt better on a drug, but many people (without a voice to speak up) have had bad experiences on drugs, electro-shock "therapy", and more. Please be skeptical.

Rules:

  • No personal attacks.
  • No advocating violence.
