It's nice. I don't know about the resolution part. It should probably stay high resolution, because of the high res screens we all have now, but maybe add a softening filter or something, or something that adds a bit of noise. I think that's the issue people have when they say it's "too crisp". There is too little variation, visual noise. It's too flat and delineated. Also, maybe feels a little "cold". It needs something that gives it that bit of soft, warm neon glow that makes everybody feel so comfy about that style.

But, I'm going to grab and save this before you toss it away or it gets lost or something. It's too nice for that.

That's noticeable better already. Looks warmer. I like it. Thanks for making the effort.

Yeah some vhs-tape-style distortion would look good I bet

Nice that's awesome! I'm adding it to my wallpaper pool, well done.

The only way I could possibly think of to improve it, would be to add a few obvious VHS tracking-error-like distortion lines. A bit of left-right warping and light static across a narrow vertical band like this: https://forum.videohelp.com/attachments/4663-1292117477/frame56.jpg

Or another (more extreme) example: https://mediaarea.net/_/img/QCTools/image64.jpg

That'd really lock in the VHS effect, along with the subtle and uniform VHS lines/static you've already added

Lol I actually did 2 versions with the VHS distortion effect you're talking about. One was okay but made it illegible. The other effect really needs to be apart of a full motion video otherwise it looks off.

I currently got a phone wallpaper with the "okay" VHS effect on it. Phone backgrounds don't really need to be legible ;)

Ah yeah I wouldn't do it over the logo, but just in the dead space below or above the logo maybe. Maybe you're right it needs to be in a video to look right.

Sounds like a cool wallpaper. It's a neat style. Anyway, nice wallpaper! :)

I like it very much. Smells like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_Vice_City to me.

Very nicely done. A wallpaper exclusively for another screen of mine. The 80's were golden times.

My first thought is that it reminds me of Miami Vice. I loved that show when I was young. STARZ has such a small library of content that they show episodes now.

Here's a updated wallpaper and a sunny alternate. Changes are courtesy of the feedback I got from everyone here. Thanks, cheers.

Memories tend to blur... but I want to say it looks more early 90's.
