• Conversion therapy is "a dangerous practice that purports to change a person’s sexual orientation, literally “converting” them from gay to straight" according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

• Sexual orientation is not a choice.

• This post shows an example of a gay man trying to "become straight" by "transitioning" i.e. pretending to live as a member of the opposite sex, and not a gay men.

• Transgender "hormone therapy" effectively acts as a form of chemical castration.

You are correct that who he is sexually attracted to has not changed, because conversion therapy doesn't work. However, just because conversion therapy is not effective at changing sexual orientation, does not mean that it is not severely harmful.

But hey, if you don't believe me, take it from a professional. At 4:38:

"This is a form of conversion therapy, for young people who are gay or lesbian."
