At the end of the documentary, he was scheduling his vagina surgery.

That's not vagina surgery. It's penis multilation surgery.

They called it "gender affirmation" surgery. It sounds so very 1984 NuSpeak to me. We used to call it "sex change operation" back in the day and even then, we all knew it was just an operation to remove perfectly healthy parts and swap them out with franken-parts.

Ugh. Something liberals are uniquely guilty of - certainly more so than conservatives - is this employment and manipulation of language to covey a certain morality. It's designed to prod those who are uninformed or ambivalent about the topic, or to nudge those who might fall on the right or center-right on a certain position. TERF, marriage equality, gender affirmation to me are such grossly subjective terms that liberals shoehorn in the discourse as the natural and objective, even correct way of describing these things.

The notion that "TERFs" are radical is debatable. The notion that same-sex marriage is a necessary part of equality is debatable. And what well-intentioned human WOULDN'T want to affirm another person? But to force these terms in the discourse as the true nomenclature is a manipulative albeit effective tactic employed by the Left.

The notion that “TERFs” are radical is debatable.

One of my favorite internet moments is when JKR released her essay and one of the top responses was a transman announcing that she and her husband are gay couple. The overwhelming majority of the responses to it were befuddled straight people being like “uh, I can’t think of anything straighter than penis and vagina. No, you aren’t gay.”

What TRAs are calling TERFs is no where near radical—it’s what the majority of people understand. Most people get what homosexuality is. Most people understand that there are two sexes, only women menstruate, and men are the physically stronger sex. It’s TRAs who are the radical ones.

Well, TERF I think originally meant legitimate radicals, like the "Kill All Men!!!" crowd. Now, that term has been thrown around more than Nazi to the point that calling someone a TERF says more about the accuser than the accused

Nowadays - just saying that you are lesbian is enough to be called TERF.

Just saying that there are two sexes male and female is enough. This is where I got my first TERF flung at me at Reddit.

No.It was always a newspeak term for any woman who refused to accept transwomen as women. The first time it was used, was in an anti_Mitchfest article written by a begrudged TRA.

I actually prefer the term gender affirmation surgery to sex change surgery because there is no way to change sex. Gender is just some weird made-up shit.

Sex change > sex reassignment to > gender confirmation.

On the one hand, it will be interesting to see these kids sue their parents and doctors for treating them like social experiments.

But on the other hand, those poor, poor children.

Documentary sounds like a disaster. Was it supposed to be critical or did they just do so by accident?

[–]haveanicedaytoo💗💜💙[S] 38 insightful - 2 fun38 insightful - 1 fun39 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I think it was meant to be a neutral look. There was no narration that I can remember to sway opinion one way or the other.

BUT the interesting thing is that they didn't edit out the bad stuff to make the parents look good or to make the kids look like these all-knowing supernatural beings who OF COURSE know absolutely 100% for sure they are "the wrong gender" like so many of these shows do. Especially with Avery and Jay, the cameras caught that vulnerable 'I'm not sure if I'm going down the right path' expression on those kids faces, even if the kids are not capable of expressing that sentiment out loud. With Phoenix, it was just so obvious that he never believed he was a girl. Even with Leena, they made sure to show that he came out as a gay dude before coming out as trans, and ended up dating a straight guy who turned out to be an undercover gay dude. If these documentary-makers turn out to be undercover "terfs" I won't be surprised. But I do believe they went in trying to be neutral and honest.

This tends to happen regardless of what angle they want to film.

I remember the Louis Theroux with trans kids, and there was this one little boy who had like 3 sisters.

It was clear he wasn't as "rough and tumble" as he was supposed to be and his folks were pushing him to be trans because he wasnt your stereotypical boys boy.

Louis asks him outright of he'd like to be a girl and he says he isn't sure.

It's really sad, they're destroying our gay or non conforming youth 😔

There was another scene where Jay was taking her puberty blocker shots for the first time, and holy shit those needles are BIG. The poor kid was in so much pain! It really broke my heart. The Jay segment was filled with a lot of money talk. These shots, pills, and procedures cost a lot of money, and the insurance company was giving them a hard time. And the doctor said something like:

"Insurance companies normally cover things that are medically necessary."

...

And then the mother started crying.

My god. That poor, poor kid. That shit is heartbreaking.

Thank you so much for the review. I'd like to watch it sometime, but sometimes this stuff really gets me down so maybe I'll save it for another time.

Wow. Sounds like a shitshow. I might watch it now.

Poor 13 year old girl (Jay's girlfriend).

I think it is hilarious that Leena's boyfriend turned out to be gay. With any luck, that young man (the ex boyfriend) will refrain from dating trans identified people.

Seconded! Another possible suggestion: HBO documentary miniseries The Lady and the Dale (more like "The Ladyfeelz and the Dale").

I haven't seen this documentary (nor to I particularly want to) but I've seen reviews of it by Blaire White and others.

This is the kind of exposure that will peak a lot of people. I'm surprised it even got aired, given that it clearly portrays trans identification in children as a product of social engineering.

[–]haveanicedaytoo💗💜💙[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh wow! Thank you for letting me know about the Blaire White video! Sometimes I doubt myself like... What if I'm seeing the things I want to see, and ignoring the things that don't support my views (cognitive bias/confirmation bias?) but seeing an actual trans person Blaire White make the exact same points made me feel a bit relieved. Like, okay, I'm not the only one who sees this! And I saw there's a bunch of other reviews on YouTube too, all saying the same thing and even more strongly!

Thank you for your sacrifice! * salutes you *
