They were actually convicted for gay sex and soliciting in the mens bathrooms. Not assaults.

John Hinson, a former Mississippi congressman, was arrested in 1981 for oral sodomy. He was discovered in a Capitol Hill building bathroom with a Library of Congress male employee

Bob Allen was arrested in 2007 after he allegedly agreed to pay an undercover male police officer for oral sex in a park bathroom.

Same for Larry Craig, who was arrested as part of a sex-sting in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. This guy was in a known cruising location, waggling his feet at someone in another stall. The peeping was not cool.

Kind of homophobic to put these into the same category as assaults.

Yes transwomen and crossdressers do get busted for sexual assaults in women's loos and changing rooms.

Who uses what bathroom is near the very bottom of things that i care about.

Public bathrooms are public, creepy people exist, what bathroom they use doesn't make a bit of difference to me.

A transwoman who reasonably passes should be able to use the women's bathroom if that's where they are most comfortable, or vice versa.

I've known women who are fine with using the men's room in many places because the women's room is always backed up with a long line.

As someone who has cleaned both, and renovated both as well, mens rooms are also cleaner usually.

I think there are some countries where there are just bathrooms with all stalls without any mens or women's room.

Even if there was some law preventing or forcing people to use this or that bathroom how and when does it get enforced? Who is checking IDs of the people entering the bathroom? Where does someone like Buck Angel go?

Uh, I'm not sure what country you're from, but in my experience, men's and unisex bathrooms are always worse than women's.

There's this little factoid posted by activists on twitter and Reddit: more congressmen have been arrested for sex crimes in bathrooms than transwomen.

I decided to check it for veracity. It was a lie. Colour me shocked.

Yeah someone pointed it out, and yeah there were depressingly few corrections if any from what I saw -ppl just taking it at face value!
