I just skimmed the comments. One of them linked back to this post and suggested we're brigading.

There are currently 9 people marked "online" on s/LGBDropTheT, and there are currently 2,600 people marked "online" on r/askgaybros. Pretty terrifying brigade if you ask me, lol.

The dimwits have no clue how many more gay men they peak with every one of these desperate pleas for attention and validaaaaaaaaation.

"People dicussing posts on a publicly available forum" counts as brigading now? Yikes. And remember that these fragile, unstable, mentally ill people who saddle the rest of us with their exhaustingly inane and homophobic bullshit are the ones society are supposed to look up to as stunning and brave role models.

It's fucking ridiculous.

"Brigading is any time people disagree with me and there's more of them than me" is the mentality. It's a "gotcha" word to sling to discredit opposing views. Ironically for the sort of people who "hate gatekeeping" they sure like to gatekeep other communities for them ("It must be brigaders no way the majority of people here disagree with me").

"It can't possibly be me that's wrong. It must be the LGB who are wrong!"

It's really interesting how heterosexuals with personal identity issues are now the self-declared face of LGB. They've truly been successful parasitizing our movement.

That's actually true, lol. Guess nobody thought about that when we got banned. (Unfortunately that sometimes leads to the banned groups that are extremist getting even more polarized...)

Maybe my favorite part, though, is that homophobic TQ-run organizations are actually starting to get sued and criticized in mainstream media; these days, we have a lot more actual events to post about and discuss besides a handful of extremely petty trans people on Reddit! Things are changing :)

Lurking that do give you an idea of who these poor souls are. 9/10 of the women there seem to get off being degraded, raped, beaten. Which kinda confirms my theory that all these women who go trans have being abused and are trying (and failing) to cope with their trauma. That’s why they’re so self hating.

[–]yousaythosethingsFind and Replace "gatekeeping" with "having boundaries" 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Possibly also why they feel so comfortable abusing gay men too. Gay men are men but they’re not the same threat since gay men don’t pose a risk of sexually assaulting or raping them and they’re men they can act like they’re above and dominant toward in their quest to be seen as men (or as non-women). Some complicated and fragile psychological dynamics going on there. This is one of the areas that radfems act totally ignorant of because it doesn’t fit a black and white view of the situation where men/boys are all offenders and women/girls are all pure victims, as we already know based on how many pedophiles, serial killers, and rapists were themselves abused, often victims become victimizers regardless of their sex. They also seem to not acknowledge how much of the enforcers of the gender identity ideology are themselves young girls. Abigail Shrier did at least convey some aspects of that in her book though she didn’t cover the FtMs who target and victimize gay men.

This is so true.

Here we have a FtM sub-celebrity that used a homophobic slur in order to refer to her detractors on social media, which is pretty ironic isn't it?!

[–]reluctant_commenter 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Yup, that is one large demographic of transitioners. Subgroups of transitioners that I feel like I see most often:

  • people on the spectrum (ASD), with ADHD or OCD, are more likely to identify as transgender, according to studies; they get an obsessive fixation on transitioning, and are told that "becoming your true self through transitioning will fix all your problems!"

  • people who have been through sexual violence; "mind-body disconnect" and alexithymia are relatively common reactions to sexual violence and "mind-body disconnect" is listed as one of the "signs" that you're transgender, so assault victims (who are often avoiding thinking about the traumatic event(s) they've been through) are like, "Oh, this symptom of mind-body disconnect must be because I am transgender"

  • people with a paraphilia-- AGP or AAP-- or who otherwise fetishize same-sex men and women

  • people who are LGB and have internalized or externalized pressure to "admit that you're a man in a woman's body" or "a woman in a man's body" (the old homophobic saying)

  • girls/women hating being a woman, having a period, etc.

  • people who are trying to jump on the trans hype train to cash in or obtain social status from trans identification (I honestly think this is the least common group)

edit: And to your point, I'm curious which of the groups is most likely to "get off being degraded, raped, beaten"-- just seems like having a past history of sexual violence before choosing to identify as transgender is such a common theme.

[–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

From what I can see, 'gay' FtMs seem to be paraphilic ones, since they're the ones who have convinced themselves that if they enjoy gay men as a fetish, they must be one too. Also they can't understand that some men are actually not attracted to women in any way shape or form, much like men who can't understand why some women aren't interested in men, period.

[–]yousaythosethingsFind and Replace "gatekeeping" with "having boundaries" 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

This is a helpful list to have on hand. I would propose one edit: “people with a paraphilia-- AGP or AAP-- or who otherwise fetishize lesbians and gays as a result of their consumption of hardcore or soft core pornography and/or erotica, often but not always or exclusively anime-based (e.g, sissy porn, lesbian porn, Yuri, and hentai for MtF and yaoi for FtM).” And although this isn’t exclusively for this category because I think this includes other paths to trans such as seeking to dissociate from their bodies due o sexual trauma or abuse, but both MtF and FtM seek out exclusively lesbians or gay men (or people who outwardly identify as such) as partners purposes of validating their transition in that they can feel reassured that they are being seen as the opposite sex, even when the belief that that the person they’re with is homosexual (or even bisexual) is downright ludicrous.

I stumbled upon a good example of the latter recently when doing a rare foray into FtM subreddits to learn and check on my understanding of some things (which could be the subject of its own post) but I was curious about discussions of preferred sexual activity by FtMs, particularly “gay FtMs” (aka straight girls) based on the constant posts in r/AGB and propaganda from hijacked gay media shaming gay men as shallow sex freaks for being exclusively attracted to male bodies and sex organs, and acting like gay men should be willing to stick their dicks in any hole and let anyone penetrate them with whatever phallic objects the other person wants. The short version of the story is that while sexual activity is obviously a frequent topic on r/agb (as it likewise is in appropriate gay men’s spaces generally and a lot of gay men’s spaces center around sexual activity between men), the FtMs are having very little sex and they overwhelmingly are not interested in anal sex, like less interested in it than women who don’t identify as men or gay men specifically. There was more discussion of dysphoria around their female genitalia and discussion of not wanting to involve it in sexual activity than there was affirmative discussion of how they like to have sex. What little sexual discussion happened was pretty much entirely focused on the issues and aversions of the FtM poster and not about active enjoyed sexual attraction to men (gay or generally). Discussion of male anatomy was limited to discussions of dysphoria, not active attraction.

So the “stick goes in hole” and “drawer full of dicks” pressure propaganda is unsurprisingly by and largely hypothetical in the FtM space based on my unscientific survey based on basic search terms you would expect to find in posts about sexual activity.

[–]reluctant_commenter 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

(which could be the subject of its own post)

I would be interested to hear!

There was more discussion of dysphoria around their female genitalia and discussion of not wanting to involve it in sexual activity than there was affirmative discussion of how they like to have sex.

Checks out, given that men (male people) are a lot more likely to have been given knowledge about how to have positive experiences during sex than women.

So the “stick goes in hole” and “drawer full of dicks” pressure propaganda is unsurprisingly by and largely hypothetical in the FtM space based on my unscientific survey based on basic search terms you would expect to find in posts about sexual activity.

That just makes a lot of sense, because if we think about the numbers... (this may seem obvious but I'll break it down anyway)

  • A far large number of girls/women seem to be transitioning than boys/men, currently

  • I would guess that, all else held equal, a girl/woman is a lot more likely to transition for non-paraphilic reasons than a boy/man is. E.g. a girl struggling with puberty/sexual assault history vs. a boy struggling with puberty/sexual assault history.

  • Assuming that there are relatively equal numbers of paraphilic girl/woman transitioners as there are paraphilic boy/man transitioners, then the non-paraphilic transitioners will make up a much larger proportion of the FtM community relative to those in the MtF community.

So the conversations you see in FtM communities would be primarily driven by a different sub-demographic of transitioners, than the ones in MtF communities. There are certainly some straight boys who transition who aren't doing it for paraphilic reasons. For example, I saw a great article a while ago about a boy on the spectrum who was pressured to transition in part because he hated all the bullying his male peers were doing, and was told, "you're actually a girl if you don't like bullying/roughhousing."

Also I agree with your edit. I'm not sure if I could quite make a post about this that'd fit in the sub posting rules, but I might try at some point.

I think the more telling part is the response saying she changed her mind and isn't pansexual anymore. The fact that they think this way is the root of the problem. She literally thinks a person can just have a change of opinion suddenly on their sexuality.

Sure, sometimes people say they are straight then come out as bi then later change to just being gay... But that is because they were dealing with external and internalized homophobia and we're either afraid to come out and say it or it took some time to cope with their own reality.

Not yet. The TRAs seem to have not realized its existence yet so trans related questions are few and far between. It's rules state the whole mantra of TWAW and shit, but the few times I've seen trans related questions up it's been lesbians saying they don't like dick and stuff that'd get them instantly banned from other subreddits.

There is a question that constantly pops up on that sub, "are there real lesbian subs other than AskLesbians?" Most of the questions come from women who discovered ActualLesbians, only to realise it has very little to do with being a lesbian.

The one time I responded, explaining that AL is not for lesbians, and where the lesbian spaces are at now, a TRA just out attacked me. I was expecting that I was going to be downvoted and banned, but I wasn't! I don't know how much longer that sub will last, but I expect it will not be long. Either it will be overtaken by transwomen or outright banned.

I don't know if that's a straight up troll or a confused young person. If it's the latter I continue to be baffled at how many people especially the younger end don't understand the basics of homophobia. I mean, "Eww, men liking other men's dicks is nasty, why do you all do it?" is surely 101?

I know how this has happened but I still can't quite believe it has happened.

[–]hufflepuff-poet 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, young people today are being raised on the lie of "genital preferences are transphobic". This is this generation's version of "colorblind/I don't see race or skin color". They make fun of older generations for believing that colorblindness was the way to solve racism, but they are actively pushing homophobia in the name of "ending transphobia", which is even dumber!

It's mind boggling, especially because so many of these kids are gay, lesbian or bisexual or "queer" and consider themselves "part of the gay community"?! Like, what do they think being gay is, if not being same-sex attracted, ie a homosexual. 🤔🙄

Well, as someone who worked in a space for gay & bi men only, let me list the reasons why we needed/wanted our own space:

  1. Safe, private access to HIV testing. No fears of being seen in the waiting room of a sexual health clinic by someone you know or of having your family doctor release private medical information to family.

  2. Able to explore same-sex attraction without leaving a trace online/being able to be doxxed/having someone go through your computer history and out you (many of our clientele were gay/bi immigrant men who were stuck living with family for financial reasons).

  3. Being able to exist in a physical space where you can talk openly with other gay & bisexual men about your experiences and find a sense of solidarity (and yes, even in the bathhouse I would participate in or overhear plenty of really touching conversations).

  4. Not having to play nice with someone if they don't respect your ability to enthusiastically consent. If you rent a room and someone won't leave you alone, you can slam your door in their face. Go to a bar and some creep won't fuck off? You have to play nice lest you be the one that gets kicked out.
