And this was why Gay Liberation in the early 70s wisely distanced itself from trans issues, but 20 years later, we had forgotten the lesson we learned.

How did they weasel their way back in, I wonder?

The success of LGB lobby groups at getting horrible laws changed. They saw it, wanted it, and decided to infiltrate and piggy back.

Desperation from the AIDS crisis perhaps? A 'we need as much support/as many allies as possible' attitude?

Via all the damn straight-fetishist "trans" people, and Queer Theorists, pushing this crackpot "gender identity" drivel. Which, I think, LGB individuals-- and especially organizations-- mistook for a critique of gender itself. And, because gender is the basis for our oppression as same-sex-attracted people, they welcomed all the gender-identity proponents in. Not realizing that this was the same old poison, just repackaged.

Ideology and paraphilia.

Two of the world's most powerful motivators after food.

Wow - this is a must see especially for all the 14-year-olds running around saying this madman is responsible for gay rights.

Here's more info on 70s' gay rights relationship w the T

It's like watching a terrible screechy comedy character having an episode. No wonder they couldn't stand him. Of course he's wearing a thin jumpsuit so you can see his dick. What a state. Also funny, usually YouTubes automated CC subtitles are pretty good, but for this screed it was "Nee mlin nin ni blee bla o nib! De di dao de blee blom bloo! !djhias gyer huoszd, sdop zdij8!" :)

The comments on that thread are refreshing. I love to see the pushback.

That whole thread...wow. The pushback is real. The trans apologists in there are getting a workout.

I remember seeing this and I was disturbed. Also, the comment section is a mess.

You weren’t joking about the comment section. Guess I’m a racist now, since I know that this crossdresser who went by the name of Sylvia Rivera has done absolutely nothing but tell lies and sleep on benches.

I saw a longer, later interview with Rivera, and he obviously had some flavor of personality disorder. I mean, Rivera was living on the street in some ramshackle shelter, no education, no skills, unemployable. How did such a complete fuck-up become a hero?

How did such a complete fuck-up become a hero?

Simple: activists needed a reason to justify including TQ+ shite into the LGB rights umbrella, and so they completely fabricated an icon to help doing so.

Also, at this point, the Stonewall Riots aren't even a historic event anymore, but a creation myth.

TRAs needed a hero, so they invented one. They just needed a template. Rivera was the perfect one, because he was known at the time for being a crossdresser.

Holy crap, that poor person was out of their mind and clearly needed professional help.

I am baffled that so many youtube comments are hailing Rivera as a true hero, so brave! and praising him to high heaven when he is a raving lunatic.

My mother was an "fg hag back in the 70s.

I grew up around LGB folks.

I never, ever saw a trans person.

They weren't there when men were dying of AIDS.

Didn't see them do anything for gay rights.

This is the perfect time for me to repost this video Sylvia Rivera looking like a homeless drug addict under a bridge ranting about lesbians and telling lies about Stonewall. Guess he was too high to remember what really happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHMTSAJ9ykg
