Why the heck is lesbian such a coveted title suddenly? I mean lesbians are great but what's the point anymore when most 'lesbians' are straight guys in lots of makeup or girls who 'love dick too!!'

I hate queerplatonic. It was used by adult creeps as a way to prey on teenagers when I was underage. It was defined to me as a relationship between two "queer" people that was either between or beyond friendship and romance. It was not rare to see a queerplatonic relationship where one person was 14-15 and the other was in their early 20s in the early-mid 2010s.

They could get away with it because it wasn't inherently romantic. I found myself in that situation, it was with the nonbinary identified woman who taught me about queer theory in the first place. She was later outed as a hebephile, made sense in retrospect as she was very inappropriate with me at times. Talked to some other people who had similar experiences and now I see someone listing a "queerplatonic partner" on their profile as a red flag.

I have come across actual platonic (non-sexual and non-romantic) life partners but I do think the concept of queerplatonic is confusing and ambiguous. Some say it can include sex which pretty much erases any clear definition of it.

This is an idea actually derived from radical feminism and lesbian feminism (although they'd hate the inclusion of the word queer!). The "lesbian continuum" includes all "woman-centred" behaviour including friendships (some "lesbian" feminists are very sniffy about the "sexual lesbians" and "genitally focused" relationships) whereas lesbian (or sometimes "political lesbian") means a woman who is abstaining (or trying to abstain) from sex with men, but does not need to be romantically or sexually attracted to women. (Not my views by the way! Imo, lesbian = female homosexual and does not include women who are attracted to men - even if your boyfriend has really pissed you off!)

Ah, more head-in-arse postmodernist jankery, just an older version of it
