they went earlier and earlier with the sex and gender stuff age wise and parents are starting to get upset. I think making 6-12yrs old kids questioning if they are a boy or girl was just too much and now lgb is gonna be censored with it. Granted, if they are gonna make available books showing trans "gay men" having sex, I don't blame them. Plus all the flags rainbow flags all over... there was the one teacher that took out the American flag and then told a kid to pledge to the trans/rainbow flag.

Yeah they are swinging the pendulum way too far in the other direction. In the 90s we had to deal with the religious "moral majority" propaganda shit from the right but society largely pushed back against that and now it's opened this door for extremists to claim that their crazy shit can't be questioned either.

It doesn't help that the neoliberal status quo in power right now loves to latch onto performatively woke controversies in order to get liberals all outraged over non issues that make them feel morally superior.

Like Joe Rogan is essentially a leftist with a couple heterodox ideas and the entire ass media is going berserk calling him a neonazi racist far right extremist transphobe etc ... People actually get caught up in it and get angry about him and they never even listened to a single podcast. Then you find out the outrage campaign is being bankrolled by a democratic party PAC.

Meanwhile they are trying to sneak troops into Ukraine without the general public noticing and blocking Afghanistan from accessing their own money to starve out their population because the US is butthurt over the fact that the puppet government they set up collapsed the day after withdrawing.

Same shit with the Maus book controversy. Everyone is outraged that the book was "banned" when the school district didn't even ban the stupid book.

Of course it’s in retaliation for the TQ bullshit; LGB have been quieter than church mice

A school district may not encourage classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.

Honestly? I don’t really see a problem with this. I can’t fathom any reason you’d need to discuss sexuality or gender theory with kids in the 6-12 age range.

What’s more, it really like any time being spent on this could be better filled with additional math work, computer science foundations, reading practice, or (dare I say it) foreign language instruction. We’re falling behind as a nation. We ought give our kids instruction that will actually give them some competitive ability when they grow up.

giving parents the right to sue school districts that fail to notify them of “critical decisions affecting a student’s mental, emotional, or physical health and well-being.” School districts can withhold some information from parents of the disclosure would result in “abuse, abandonment or neglect.”

What I think this is trying to prevent: James being a James at home, but Veronikka at school. I think it’s reasonable for parents to want to know if their kid is claiming to be another gender at school and is accessing resources (i.e, locker rooms, sports teams, bathrooms, etc.) meant for the opposite sex. (At the very least, you deserve a head’s up if you’re going to be the focal point of a potential lawsuit) Furthermore, if a kid is going behind his or her parents’ backs, getting cross-sex hormones, and bragging about it at school, that’s information a parent should know.

What I think this has the ability to do: Technically require some poor teacher to out a kid if his or her parents call and ask.

Classroom presentations, school clubs and other less formal discussions students and teachers would be allowed under the bill

Okay, they’re relegating class time to academic subjects and not social issues. Social issues aren’t banned, just relegated to another sphere. Again, I don’t see a problem.

Children and students ask a lot of questions

That they do. I vividly remember kids in my class asking all sorts of kooky stuff. However, I do not remember, at any point and time, anyone asking about gender theory. That’s with 13 years of public education, 4 years of university, and 2 years of graduate school, mind you. Not once did anyone ask anything about gender woo woo. It’s almost like this is a social contagion that parents are getting sick of having pushed on their children.

In sum: this seems like a pretty clear attempt to get woke teachers to stop pushing gender theory in classes. I understand why parents are upset. Hell, I’d be upset if I had a kid in school right now too.

I do worry that this has the potential to be misused for three things. 1. Erasing LGB history from high school classes by some districts. 2. Erasing any acknowledgment of homosexuality or bisexuality from high school sex ed classes. 3. Getting some poor gay or bi teen outed to his or her parents.

It seems like would could be a causality for TQ+ bullshit and it makes me sick.

What if a child in the school has same sex parents or a divorced parent in a same sex relationship? You wouldn't necessarily discuss sexuality with a child but letting them grow up knowing that sometimes men fall in love with men and women fall in love with women is healthy. It also allows children who can tell at a young age that they are attracted to the same sex that there isn't anything wrong with them. Internalised homophobia can be at the root of gender dysphoria, so a child knowing from a young age that same sex attraction is perfectly normal may be less likely to wish their body was different in order to justify their crushes.

In terms of gender identity, children should learn that boys and girls can like whatever they want. That there are differences between men and women but as children their sex/gender makes very little difference and they should play with whatever toys are available to them, watch and read whatever kids shows and books are suitable for their age and while they need to dress practically for the weather and activity, all colours and designs are for everyone.
