Reddit is locking those threads as fast as they can

Some Reddit power mods diapers are now both full of doo-doo and on fire.

Are there any other ones you're aware of? I'm probably gonna go dumpster diving for more. So curious about how the general public is taking this.

According to r/TumblrInAction, FINA, the organization that governs swimming at the World/Olympic level, technically banned transwomen unless they underwent transitioning under the age of 12.

Yup. Not a perfect remedy but certainly eliminates the current crop of male cheaters.

It's actually worse. It supports child abuse, basically "if you didn't groom your child young enough then they are not allowed to participate" It's insane.

Of course they are. With their biological sex.

This might very well be step one of sensible rulemaking; I am not surprised they held back from jumping 100% on board with observing that boys can't be girls and men can't be women. Take the win, it's a big one. In politics, waiting for perfection often means getting nothing. There's nothing stopping them from going further once there is evidence, applicable to their competitions, that there's still a problem. Meanwhile they still have to deal with the abusive, braying mob like the rest of us.

While I understand the theoretical risk, I don't think parents are going to bother going through all the trouble of transing their kids so early on specifically in order to get them into women's competition if there exists a well-known precedent like this where one's plans can be so easily thwarted by a sudden rule change. I think they'll wait for the situation to stabilize first- one way or the other.

Male trans athletes are banned from women's categories in swimming (only exception male swimmers who transitioned before age of 12) . FINA ( World swimming’s governing body!) proposed to make separate categories for transwomen and transmen which is both inclusive and fair.

Some light at the end of the tunnel,at last.

However, the ruling would seemingly exclude University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas from elite competition.

Women's elite competition.

The IOC urged shifting the focus from individual testosterone levels and calling for evidence to prove when a performance advantage existed.

No sh#t IOC. It is a disgrace you relied only on testosterone levels to allow competition of males in female categories. Especially when the testosterone levels for both trans male athletes and males with disorders of sexual development like CAIS were higher than those permitted for women.

I recently did some reading about antidepressants and ADHD medications, and stumbled across this website: https://www.theinnercompass.org/learn-unlearn

I was shocked to see how many parallels there were with puberty blockers. The evidence for them is extremely sparse and poor-quality, and at best these drugs are only supposed to be used for like, a couple of months maximum, not years. Anti-depressants seem to cause sexual dysfunction, just like puberty blockers. And ADHD "medications" are, in some cases, straight-up meth. Wtf?

Any opinions from people here on antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, ADHD meds...? This approach to mental health seems crazy. I also can't believe I never heard about this before. But I guess it's also hard to find real information about puberty blocker side effects, too, and I only found out about that because I was a curious gay person dealing with internalized homophobia.

For what it's worth, I still think puberty blockers are a uniquely harmful and unusual type of misused drug because they are built around the spiritual-like belief in an innate "gender identity" which cannot be objectively experienced, seen, heard, etc.

Yeah, I suspect that one reason why these medications became so widely, and unquestioningly, used, is the very nature of the U.S. medical system... specifically, its being built on private health insurance. So what doctors do is often a matter of what insurance will pay for. And insurers prefer medications and operations to talk therapy-- physical stuff; something that you can SEE. Even if this doesn't actually address the problem. They don't wanna cover the psychological approach, where it's basically about getting to know someone, understand them: how they think and feel, the way that they experience the world. Until the Affordable Care Act passed, U.S. medical insurance rarely covered any form of psychotherapy. But antidepressants, ADHD meds, etc.? Oh, sure-- they'd pay for THAT. Which drove the entire medical system here in that direction. And played right into the trans-agenda of "don't find out what's going on in their MINDS-- just CHANGE THEIR BODIES!!!", tragically.

Any cure that you have to take forever that has side effects worse than what you were dealing with... hard pass.

I did the whole anxiety/depression drug thing as a teen and fucked myself up worse than before. Just get some friends, hobbies or hell even smoke some green. That won't kill you if you suddenly stop at least...

I'm so sorry you went through that. That sounds incredibly difficult to deal with. :( I feel for all the people I know who are in a similar situation and struggling with antidepressant withdrawal symptoms.
