I came here 3 months ago because the mod invited me

Which mod was that?

Good riddance. If you can't deal with some different opinions I suggest turning off the internet for good. You fought with me and assumed I was Republican because I don't parrot liberal talking points. I still don't know what I said to piss you off so badly but apparently I really did.

Same here.

Yet I'm still here. Not leaving because some people disagree with me. Duh!

If you misunderstood what I wrote,I was agreeing with you.

For sure! Thanks for clarifying.

I understand the distrust of Saidit. Some of us are interested in moving off-site! Personally, I hope that's what will happen because I'm also ready to be done with the extremists on this site.

Who cares if they don't sound like men? Why put venting posts here?

Because LGB people deserve a place to vent, and because those posts marked "Colonization" are examples of homophobic straight people doing "gayface." It's fine and reasonable for us to seek out a place to talk about them and to vent about them.

A concerning number of Republicans and right-wing nutjobs here. I don't like the left either but I'm in no way going to associate with the other party.

Well... we've never been a "one-party" movement. A lot of people here aren't Republican or Democrat because they're not even Americans... While I don't agree with everyone here all the time, I'm glad to have this community as a place to talk about LGB issues and hear thoughtful perspectives.

Bye!

It’s your decision. But you are going to encounter people whom you disagree with in most situations.

1). Trolls annoy me too. But I just ignore them. As long as they’re not spanning or doxing they are easy to ignore.

2). Who was saying that? I don’t think there are white supremacists on here. Maybe there are two or three, but as long as they don’t make the sub about white supremacy, they shouldn’t be too much of a bother. I am against racism of any kind, and no race is better than the other. But I don’t care if other people are racist as long as they don’t involve me or people I care about or innocent people in their racism. I want this sub to stay focused on LGB dropping the T.

3). Yeah, I’m against bullying transgender people as well. But aside from a few, most people don’t have a problem with transgender people existing. We just don’t want to go out of our way to accommodate them in spaces that are made for us, and want society to realise that homosexuals/bisexuals have a different fight than transgenders.

4). I will concede that the Republican Party sucks. In fact, I think the left-right paradigm is lame, and that political partisanship is one of the greatest weaknesses of democracy because it incites division within society. But I’m still willing to talk to people regardless of their political party affiliations or political views. The Republicans are right wing by European standards, sometime even far right. But by the standards of non-western countries, the Republicans are centrists, some or even left wing. In fact, some Republicans are left wing by European standards.

You’re welcome on this sub any time. And I wish you the best of luck. But try to understand that this sub and the world in general is pretty nuanced.

My opinion is pretty close to this. I deal with people I heavily disagree with online quite often. If my main approach was trying to completely separate myself from the views of all those people from the very beginning, I probably would've ended up exclusively on a blog I made for myself, replying with "Hear hear!" and eventually "Yas Queen!" to my brilliant rants.

Lol. I know people who do this.

Exactly. Plus, it's exciting when you're talking to someone you disagree with on most issues then suddenly you both agree on something.

I have to admit that I definitely meet some people who are here arguing in bad faith and/or trolling, but I have also meet people who don't share my opinions that turned out to be reasonable people. We might not change each others mindsets while discussing, but I have learned much about my own opinions when I had to defend them in a fair discussion. I had to reflect on why I believe in certain things and that sometimes ended up cementing the things I already believed in and other times not. (I have to admit, those sorts debates helped me to grow out of my very narrow SJW "Kill-anything-I-don't-agree-with-with-fire" mindset, so I might be a bit biased...) Goodbye and have a good life!

I've had the same experience here. :) It's one of the most surprising and coolest experiences I've had on Saidit.

@MarkJefferson: YAS QUEEEEEEEN! 👑👑👑

I'm sorry.

Anyway I agree with the most of you. The only thing I am a bit meeh about is the bullying as it remains quite vague what is seen as bullying. I don't know, pointing out some rather illogical things isn't bullying in my book. But with the downfall of Roe v. Wade I have read some real nasty stuff, both from the TRA side as the rightwing/religious right etc, so I probably have different boundaries. This sub is quite mild in my opinion.
